Keeping the kids busy (and out of mischief) during the festive season can be tricky, so here are four simple ideas to help make their Christmas more fun, and yours more peaceful!
Make a DIY Decoration with Retro Prints
Use the kids’ favourite photos from the year to create a Christmas tree of snapshots. Stack empty gift boxes in a tree shape and decorate them with retro prints of special family moments.
Not only will the kids enjoy looking back over the fun they had this year, but when you’ve finished crafting you’ll be left with a unique festive decoration for your home.
Our retro prints come in packs of 16, 24 or 32, and can also be transformed into DIY gift tags to give your Christmas pressies a personal touch. Check out our tutorial here to see how it’s done.
Play Christmas Movie Bingo
If the kids tend to get a bit fidgety when the family are watching a film, keep them entertained with a game of Christmas movie bingo.
All you need to do is draw up a few lists of those things you find in every good Christmas film (santa, a roast turkey, mischievous elves, a snowman…) and hand them out to the kids. Whoever’s first to tick everything off their list wins a prize – or gets an extra helping of ice cream after dinner!
We’ve even made a handy bingo card template to help you get started.
Enjoy a Spot of Festive Baking
Christmas is a great excuse to whip up something sweet in the kitchen, and kids of all ages will enjoy a spot of festive baking – especially if you let them be your taste testers!
Obviously you want to avoid any kitchen catastrophes, so stick to simple recipes like fairy cakes, cookies or anything that you can set in the fridge (rocky road is a personal favourite). You could even try out our very own gingerbread recipe, and make a batch as a delicious Christmas gift. You can find our recipe here.
Create a Collage of 2015
Get crafty with your photos and help the kids to create a collage of your family’s favourite memories from 2015. From holidays and birthdays to special days out, you’re sure to have plenty of snaps of a jam-packed year.
Print your photos with us, then the kids can arrange them in a collage and stick them to a piece of colourful paper or card. If you’ve not printed your photos with us before, you can get 75 free photo prints when you use the voucher code 75FREEPRINTS.
Hopefully these ideas will help keep your little elves entertained and make Christmas more fun for the whole family 🙂
