Whether you’re a bit of a whizz in the kitchen and fancy making your own cookbook like a pro, or you simply want to create a collection of your family’s favourite dishes, a CEWE PHOTOBOOK is the perfect way to present your recipes.

Here we’ll show you how to take your best baking know-how or culinary expertise and turn it into a cookbook that looks good enough to eat!

What You’ll Need

  • A selection of recipes, complete with ingredients, measurements and detailed instructions. Why not borrow tried and tested dishes from your favourite cookbooks, or collect together your secret family recipes to hand down to the next generation of chefs.
  • Photographs of your culinary creations – because no photo book is complete without beautiful images! I used pictures of the finished product for my recipe book, but if you like you could photograph each stage of the process for a step-by-step guide to tasty treats.

How It’s Done

Step One

First, you’ll need to download our easy to use Creator Software, which you can find here. Once it’s installed, open it up and choose which size photo book you’d like to create. I made two versions of my recipe book, one in the XL Square format and one in the Small Square format , but there are plenty of options to choose from, with a range of paper types and cover choices too.

Step Two

Next, it’s time to create a cover for your book. I used a close-up shot of some delicious baking ingredients, but anything colourful or eye-catching will work well. Select your chosen image under Photos & Videos, then set it as the background across both pages of the cover by clicking the icon at the bottom of the pane.

Using one image across both sides of the cover gives an impressive wrap-around effect, but if you prefer you could use multiple images to create a collage-style cover, or use two separate photographs for the front and back – the choice is yours!

Step Three

Add the title of your recipe book by inserting a text box, and don’t forget to add the title to the spine of the book too.

Step Four

Decide which order you’d like your recipes to be in. These could be organised by food type, cuisine, or course, or arranged in order of tastiness like mine!

Use a text box to add wording to the page, and select a font, colour and size to achieve the look you’re after. Keep this consistent throughout the book for a truly professional finish.]

Top Tip

To ensure that your CEWE PHOTOBOOK always looks as fantastic as it should, our software features a handy tool which makes it easy to check the resolution of your images.

When this is enabled, you’ll see a smiley face indicating the resolution quality. A green smiling face is what you’re after, and means that your images are of sufficiently high resolution to give a crisp, clear print.

If your images aren’t quite good enough, try resizing them so they are larger. The larger your image, the more pixels it has, and the more pixels, the better the resolution.

Step Five

Once you’ve created the perfect page layout for your recipe book, you can easily replicate this on the other pages by saving the layout. Simply click the icon at the top of the screen, and the layout will then appear in My Layouts under Page Layouts.

To use this layout again, simply drag and drop it from the Page Layouts menu over to the page.

Top Tip

The recipe book I made has a minimal, clean design, with full-page images and simple text. If you did want to create something with more detail, our software is full to the brim with clipart, backgrounds, frames, and ready made page layouts for you to use. In fact, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to designing your own recipe book!

There you have it – a beautiful cookbook to take pride of place in your kitchen. Happy photobooking, and bon appétit!
