The Only New Year’s Resolution You Need: Take More Photos!

Forget forking out for a gym membership or trying (and failing) to give up sweet treats, we’ve got a New Year’s resolution that’s free and fun to do! Resolving to take more photos in 2016 is a guaranteed way to make your year a little nicer. Here’s why:

You’ll Appreciate the Little Things

By pushing yourself to take more photos, you’ll find yourself noticing lovely little things you’d otherwise miss. On a dull Monday in January you might be wondering what there is that’s camera-worthy, but look close enough and you’ll always find something worth capturing.

Not only will this give you lots of super snaps to share on Instagram or turn into prints, but taking time to appreciate the small stuff will lift your spirits too. Even the rain can look pretty from the right angle – like most things in life, it’s all about perspective.

Photos Bring Us Together

Whether you’re sending a funny photo to a friend or posting a picture on Facebook, the photos we take can really bring us together. What better way to feel closer to far off family and friends than by sharing your snapshots with them?

Text them, email them, print them off and stick them in the post: however you share them, photos are an unbeatable way to feel more connected to the people that matter to you. So get your camera out and get snapping something to make them smile.

You’ll Remember Your Year, a Photo at a Time

Whether your year turns out to be packed with travels to new places or filled with family fun closer to home, photos are the best way to record and remember the nicest bits of the next 12 months.

Don’t just save your camera for the special occasions either, because the everyday memories matter too. From taking the kids to the park, to making dinner for your friends, these everyday moments are just as good to capture on camera as the extraordinary ones.

And when the year ends (or when a few years have passed and you wonder what you got up to in 2016), you’ll have plenty of pictures to reminisce with.

Instead of giving something up this new year, give yourself the challenge of taking more photos. If you’ve got your phone or camera to hand, you’ve got everything you need to get started – so what are you waiting for? It’s 2016 and it’s time to get snap happy 🙂

All great reasons to take more photos and I would add that going back through old photos sparks small memories you had forgotten on trips and events that had actually made the days even more special, as I discovered recently looking through some pictures of travels in Borneo
