More than 180,000 photos show the beauty of the world

Our World is Beautiful competition entries

Photography enthusiasts from all over the world have entered the CEWE Our World is Beautiful competition, which ran for a total of nine months. There were an astounding 183,861 entries in total and the judges now have the enormous task of choosing the winners. Our World is Beautiful is one of the world’s largest photography competitions, open to any photographer, amateur or professional, young or old.

Impressive diversity

A wide variety of photos were received for the six categories of ‘Sport’, ‘People’, ‘Landscapes’; ‘Architecture’, ‘Transport and Infrastructure’ and ‘Nature’. You can view the photos submitted online which show a range of interesting and diverse personal perspectives on the world. Duncan Midwood, Managing Director of CEWE Photoworld says, “The quality and breadth of work that has been submitted has been absolutely phenomenal. It’s staggering that the Our World is Beautiful competition, which was open to all abilities, received entries from 94 different countries. It really proves that there are no limits on photographic enjoyment.”

Announcement of the winners

The awards ceremony to present the category winners and the overall winners will be held at the German Photo Museum in Markkleeberg near Leipzig on Friday 22nd September 2017. The international jury comprises renowned experts, journalists and photographers, including Norwegian wildlife photographer Ole Jørgen Liodden, Micha Pawlitzki, who specialises in taking photos of architecture and landscapes, and multi-media producer Christina Brun.

There’s more to come

Following the remarkable response and the exceptional quality of entries submitted, CEWE feel a responsibility to the international photography community to make the competition an annual occurrence.
Anyone who unfortunately missed out in taking part in Our World is Beautiful 2017, or anyone who would like to take part again, can look forward to Our World is Beautiful 2018, which will open for applications next spring.
