We love running our photography competitions, because it’s so great to see all the fantastic photos you’ve taken, and inspires us to get out there with our own cameras! For our most recent competition, Walk on the Wild Side, we asked for your nature and wildlife pictures from around the UK – and your photographs certainly didn’t disappoint.

We’ve been so impressed with the quality and variety of entries, and we had a tough time picking a winner and two runners up. After drawing up a shortlist and circulating it around the office, there was one image that stood out as the most popular, and that’s this beautiful shot of a sunny yellow celandine refracted by a dew drop.

Flower reflected in a dew drop

“One of the earliest flowers of Spring, the lesser celandine adds carpets of yellow to meadows and woodland. This flower is seen refracted in a drop of water.”

For us, this photo truly captured the intricate beauty of nature, and we’re very pleased to name Mary Payne as our winner. Congratulations Mary! You win a £50 CEWE PHOTOBOOK voucher, as well as £100 worth of National Trust vouchers to help you keep on enjoying the best of our green and pleasant land.

Our first runner up was Victoria Balls, with her photo of a lovely lamb. Perhaps the cutest character from the competition!

Second runner up was Caroline Ashton, who captured these hungry chicks at dinner time. Both beautiful images, and perfect examples of the natural wonders we’re surrounded by at this time of year.

With almost 300 entries, we were spoilt for choice when selecting our winners, and we wanted to recognise a few of our other favourites. Here are some of the other images that caught our eye.
