Christmas is the perfect time to capture some lovely photos of your family and friends. From smiling faces as they open their gifts, to your delicious dinner or a festive walk in the snow (fingers crossed!), there are so many magical moments you won’t want to miss.
We see tonnes of your lovely festive photos here at CEWE Photoworld, so we like to think we know a thing or two about what makes a great Christmas photo. Here are our three top tips for taking better christmassy pics.
Capture Every Detail
Christmas is about much more than presents and roast turkey. Instead of only taking a few key photos, make sure you snap every detail of the big day.
From the kids’ excitement when they see their presents tucked beneath the tree on Christmas morning, to family board games in the afternoon and a glass of bubbly in the evening, take plenty of pictures of every special moment.
The more pictures you take, the more you’ll have to fill a photo book telling the story of your Christmas. Don’t forget to take lots of photos of your lovely decorations too.
Take Candid Shots
Family photos can be awkward and look a little forced, so instead take candid, informal pictures that will look much more natural. For example, snap the kids when they’re busy playing with their new toys, and hopefully they’ll be having so much fun they won’t even notice the camera.
Set your camera to burst mode or continuous shooting mode to take a series of shots in quick succession. You never know what gems you might capture when people aren’t looking!
Add Festive Fun with Our Photo Props
So you’re unlikely to have a proper photo booth at your family’s Christmas day gathering, but that doesn’t mean you can’t improvise! Make your own DIY photo props and you can take plenty of fun photos to remember your party by.
Simply print our templates, cut them out and attach to wooden skewers, and you’ve got yourself some fun festive props to pose with! You can reuse them on New Year’s Eve too.
You can print our templates from here.
Take plenty of pictures and you can make this Christmas one you’ll always remember. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so make sure you capture it on camera.View All Blog Posts
